TURFTECH AS AN EMPLOYER

Turftech prides itself on delivering a superior service for all its customers, and providing opportunities for its employees to grow and develop their skills in different areas of turf management.  We place a strong emphasis on education, and always have a number of turf trainees working in the company. We like to think that we can offer our employees a career path in the turf and horticulture industry, with opportunities to be educated, learn, and grow in the different divisions we have within the company.

Tips when applying:

Attitude is everything
Include a covering letter with your CV
Make sure your application reaches us by the closing date (if there is one)
Let your passion for the job come through in your application

Flexible Hours

As a lot of the work we do at Turftech is seasonal, and sometimes dependant on the weather, the ability to be flexible with working hours is important.  As well as flexible work hours for permanent positions, we usually take on a number of seasonal workers for the spring and summer, when our workload increases.

Social Occasions

Being a company with a number of distributed sites, we struggle to get everyone together on a regular basis.  We do usually manage to fit in our annual Golf Day (although it has been known to be derailed a few times in the history of the company by weather or workloads), as well as a company-wide get together to celebrate the year sometime in December.

Vacation Time

Our irrigation, drainage and renovation teams have a few weeks’ break over the Christmas/New Year period, and often have time off during the winter, when things are quiet. Our maintenance teams tend to build up some big hours over the spring/summer/autumn months, and have a quieter time through the winter.  Turf is always growing, so our work at schools and sports fields is never done!

Competitive Compensation

Turftech works in an industry where skills are important, and understand that to keep good skilled staff we need to offer a working environment that people enjoy working in.  This includes compensating our staff financially in line with industry trends, taking their individual skill levels and experience into account.

Advancement Opportunities

Turftech places a strong emphasis on education, and always have a number of turf trainees working in the company.  We like to think that we can offer our employees a career path in the turf industry, with opportunities to be educated, learn, and grow in the different divisions we have within the company.

Team Atmosphere

Even though each Turftech site has its own distinct team spirit and atmosphere,  the company as a whole is always keen to support getting our people together.  This is often not easy to do, with our sites stretching from Northcote in the North to Te Kauwhata in the South, with our depot and head office somewhere in the middle.  Any ideas for getting our teams together are always welcomed, and we ALWAYS get together for an end-of-year bash to celebrate everyone’s achievements .
